The Senior Buyer is responsible for ensuring the continuity of global supply for raw materials and purchased parts for the organization within the assigned supply base while achieving company targets on cost reductions, payment terms, inventory reduction, and contractual/commercial terms while mitigating risks to the Company. Additionally, this position is responsible for representing the function as a Business Partner to support other cross functional initiatives when needed.
· Implement Procurement Policy Definition and ensure compliance.
· Responsible for managing assigned spend using Category Management process utilizing a Total Cost of Ownership methodology.
· Relationship owner for assigned suppliers ensuring alignment with Company goals and internal escalations regarding Delivery, Quality, Cost, and Risk.
· Business Partner with Marketing/Product Management/Engineering for technology screening and part requirement development for new and existing product road map.
· Drive Company supplier assessments and auditing process with cross functional support.
· Conduct timely negotiations with assigned supply base to support the Company cost management process on an annual and as needed basis.
· Contracting (Supplier on boarding, NDA, Supply Agreement) and Contract Compliance
· Supports New Product Introductions
· Analyze and present make/buy recommendations to management.
· Represent the function as the subject matter expert when it relates to your assigned categories or commodities which include commodity market, commodity risks, trends, and cost drivers.
· Support ISO audits as required.
· Participate as a member of a Project Team and/or Cross Functional Team as required.
· Work with suppliers to collaboratively develop new solutions for the business.
· Perform other related duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business or Supply Chain or equivalent in related field.
· Minimum 5 years within a manufacturing environment in strategic sourcing, procurement or purchasing role with some experience in international procurement.
· Professional certifications are preferred but not required.
· Requires a working knowledge of ERP functionality.
· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite specifically Excel (i.e. pivot tables, v look up), Word, PowerPoint, and preferably MS Project.
· Must be able to communicate and present to all levels of management.
· Must have a high attention to detail.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Working knowledge of 7 step strategic sourcing/category management process.
· Experience in various manufacturing processes (injection molding, metals, stampings, castings, packaging, private labels relationships) and MRO (including Freight)
· Understanding of risk and cost drivers in subject commodities or categories.
· Experience in working with Marketing, Product Management, Engineering in cross functional role to define requirements and sell the role as Business Partner
· Working knowledge of Contract Management principles and practices
· High proficiency in Excel to mine and manage data.
· Apply principles of logical thinking to solve practical problems
· Must be able to read, understand and communicate in English
· Travel up to 20% of the time, including occasional international travel
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities
The expected annual salary for this position is between $75,000.00 and $99,000.00. This range represents a good faith estimate for the position and actual compensation will be based on numerous factors including knowledge, location, skills, training and experience.
