IDEAL interns are provided the opportunity to develop and apply practical skills under the mentorship of subject matter experts in a professional work environment. This includes purposeful connection to intern education and the application of academic theory through relevant, hands-on experience in project management, research, design, data collection and analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement, with a variety of both independent and team-based activities.

The Mechanical Engineering Summer Intern for our Design group will be working on New Product Development design, testing, prototyping, and competitive analysis of many of our Strategic Initiatives.  You will support the Design Engineering team by building prototype samples, testing competitive product and evaluating mechanical properties of various products in IDEAL’s portfolio. 

Responsibilities:

• Develop 3D models in Solidworks of new concepts of Tools used to cut and strip wires.
• Develop 3D concepts for solving ergonomic solutions for wire installation projects.
• Evaluate competitive products for Testers and Meters used in the Electrical Industry
• Analize data from Test results and create PowerPoint presentations to share with Management
• Participate in team design review meetings.

Requirements:

• Pursuing Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and proficiency with Excel
• Skilled in the use of computer applications such as Solidworks or equivalent CAD software
• Ability to work successfully as part of a team as well as independently
