Responsibilities

The Senior Sales Engineer plays a pivotal role in engaging customers within a designated vertical market. Tasked with identifying and nurturing product development opportunities, this role focuses on presenting cutting-edge solutions and fostering relationships to drive growth. With a primary focus on the Datacom sector, the Senior Sales Engineer collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to deliver innovative products that meet customer needs.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate new and existing design wins by engaging with potential customers, pinpointing applications for company products, with a primary emphasis on expanding presence in the Datacom market.
  • Identify and qualify opportunities for both existing and custom power connectors/products, collaborating with both internal and customer engineers to ensure successful delivery.
  • Assess new customers and markets while aiding in the development and introduction of new products to meet evolving industry demands.
  • Maintain a keen awareness of product development activities within the Datacom sector, coordinating with Regional Sales Managers to optimize resource deployment and maximize closure rates.
  • Establish and nurture technical relationships with Datacom customers at various organizational levels, fostering rapport and understanding.
  • Support Regional Sales Managers, Manufacturer’s Sales Representatives, and Distributors, ensuring alignment with revenue and profit objectives through targeted technical support.
  • Provide technical assistance to sales representatives and distributors, particularly within the Datacom market segment.
  • Act as a representative at industry trade shows and events to showcase company offerings and network with potential clients.
  • Collaborate with Regional Sales Managers to follow up on Datacom marketing leads, identifying and pursuing product development opportunities.
  • Maintain a robust pipeline of Datacom and Telecom projects, aligning with company objectives.
  • Gather, analyze, and integrate competitive intelligence for strategic decision-making at regional and headquarters levels.
  • Manage technical inquiries from existing and potential customers, providing comprehensive support throughout the sales process.
  • Conduct training sessions for sales representatives and distributors on product features, benefits, and applications within the Datacom domain.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams as needed to drive business objectives.
  • Fulfill any additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (electrical or mechanical) or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of field sales experience in industrial product sales, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience in connector sales/applications is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to interact with customers across various levels and functions.
  • Experience in consultative technical sales utilizing established methodologies.
  • Proficiency in sales reporting and analysis.
  • Demonstrated success in cold-calling potential customers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical prowess, and attention to detail.
  • Quick adaptability to technical information and business processes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in diverse teams.
  • Results-oriented with a proactive approach to meeting deadlines and achieving business objectives.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 50%.
