The Director of Operations is a key leader responsible for overseeing and optimizing the manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, profitability, and overall operational excellence while overseeing the daily management of Operations, Distribution, and Logistics for Ideal Electrical. This role leads the operational strategy planning and creation, execution, and continuous improvement initiatives to drive productivity and meet organizational goals. This position is responsible for setting the direction and achieving results through the entire Operations, Distribution, and Logistics Teams. This must be accomplished in an environment where safety is first while instilling a focused continuous improvement culture that achieves results in quality, 6S, service levels, productivity, cost reductions and delivery performance. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage resources effectively, and implement best practices to enhance overall operational performance. This position must partner with employees, business units, functional areas, customers, and suppliers to align activities with established business objectives. All of this must be done in alignment with our mission, vision, values, and strategy. Strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of manufacturing operation are essential for success in this pivotal role. This position will report directly to the General Manager.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions):

 

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize operational processes, meet production goals, enhance profitability, and operational efficiency throughout the company’s operations.
  • Lead and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve operation excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulation, safety standards, and quality control measures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align operational strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Foster a culture based on our values of integrity, accountability, kindness, respect, and sustainability.
  • Serve as a key partner to the IDEAL Executive Leadership Team.
  • Lead and direct daily operations and interact regularly with the Management Team to ensure that company’s operational priorities are aligned with the division’s strategy (total company direction).
  • Provide direct oversight for the Operations Management Team including Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Planning, Quality, Distribution, and Logistics.
  • Review financial statements and utilize data to reduce costs and improve profitability.
  • Develop and manage multi-plant budget including capital expenditures.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Develop and track Key Plant Metrics to ensure corporate commitments are achieved. Key metrics include but are not limited to: Safety, Housekeeping, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, PM Compliance, Inventory, Cost Reductions (PPV), Fixed capital efficiency (OEE), Lean projects.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • BA/ BS in Industrial, Mechanical or Business Administration Degree; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in a Manufacturing environment; with at least 5 of those years supervising both exempt and non-exempt employees.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully working with other business functions including: Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, Supply Chain, and Sales.
  • Proven track record of operational continuous improvement implementation and results.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing best practices.
  • Must possess strong leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to identify and manage projects from concept to implementation and successfully drive project results.
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge and understanding of application within a dynamic Operations environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated success in driving operational improvements and achieving production targets.
