    Job Summary


    The primary responsibility of this Quality Engineer is assuring consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing good manufacturing and problem-solving practices.  This person will be responsible for working cross functionally with Operations, Customer Service, Tech Support, Engineering and Quality to establish, implement, maintain and continually improve the Lighting Business Unit’s product quality and reliability to drive a positive customer experience.  This opening is a tremendous opportunity for an engineer with strong technical and communication skills to positively impact customer satisfaction.  They will be working on our manufacturing plant floor to perform root cause diagnosis to the manufacturing processes and running quality related projects. These projects are tied to reducing scrap, improving quality, and reducing cost.



    • Establish, administer, and effectively maintain the internal corrective and preventive actions systems.
    • Ownership and administration of our Process Change Review Board (PCRB).
    • Ownership and administration of our Status Material Process.
    • Perform root cause analysis and develop effective countermeasures by utilizing Six Sigma, A3 and/or 8D methodologies.
    • Maintain and continually improve our Quality Management System to uphold compliance to ISO 9001 or other requirements specified by our customers.
    • Work with our Engineering organization to construct suitable qualification plans and assist in validating and approving the results.
    • Prepare daily and weekly quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; making recommendations.
    • Participate in daily Gemba walks and communicate relevant updates as it pertains to important quality issues and core metrics.
    • Work with other departments to develop plans, presentations and other materials as may be necessary to resolve quality issues and in a timely manner.
    • Collect and analyze data to eliminate redundant or unnecessary processes and improve existing processes (minimize scrap and rework).
    • Address customer issues in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Ensure all quality and procedure related documentation is kept current and controlled.
    • Maintain highest quality control standards in accordance with existing quality control plans.

    • Lead and drive the organization using widely accepted quality techniques such as the 8D problem solving, 5 Whys, Kaizen events, etc.
    • Demonstrate abilities to lead in problem solving/countermeasure events where quality issues are diagnosed, discussed, and resolved.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 5+ years’ experience in a Quality related role such as a Quality Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer or equivalent.
    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and/or Industrial Engineering; and/or suitable work experience.
    • Practical experience and knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies.
    • Demonstrate abilities to lead in problem solving/countermeasure events where quality issues are diagnosed, discussed, and resolved.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills
    • Strong problem-solving abilities.
    • Capable of working across and influencing at all organizational levels.
    • Experience with implementation of corrective action programs such as 8D or A3.
    • Experience with databases and data analysis tools (SQL, Access, SAS JMP, Excel, etc.)


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Practical experience and knowledge of printed circuit board (SMA/SMT) manufacturing.
    • Hands-on, practical knowledge of IPC-A-610, Class II solder workmanship standards.
    • Preferred Lean/Six Sigma certification or equivalent work experience or company certification.  ASQ Certification would be a plus.
    • LED or lighting industry experience. 
    • Applied knowledge of APQP and PPAP tools.
    • Strong working knowledge of SPC and DOE principles and methods.
    • Experience in semiconductor device and/or failure analysis.
