    We currently have an opening for an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist within our Environmental Health & Safety group. The position will be located at our Racine, WI facility.

    SUMMARY
    This position is responsible for executing EHS programs and provide a safe, compliant and effective work environment for 900 employees in R&D, manufacturing and distribution across two sites in the Racine area.  EHS Specialist will work collaboratively with the EHS Team and internal customers to examine potential environmental, health and safety issues and assist with controls.  EHS Specialist will assist EHS Manager and team with policy and procedure development and implementation.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Implement controls and keep records as assigned.

    Safety examples include:

    • Inspections – grounds, facilities, equipment (Lock Out Tag Out, Machine Guarding, etc.)
    • Training – deliver classroom training within skill set, coordinate online training
    • Personal Protective Equipment voucher program management
    • Coordinate Contractor Safety documentation and badge access

    Environmental and Sustainability examples include:

    • Audits – grounds, facilities, chemical storage, etc. for environmental compliance
    • Hazardous and Universal waste inspections, handling, and recordkeeping
    • Training – deliver classroom training within skill set, coordinate online training
    • Recycling team coordination, recycling audits, recycled materials handling
    • Data gathering and recordkeeping for air, water, and waste regulatory reporting

    Security and Emergency Response examples include:

    • Assist with access control for employees, visitors and contractors
    • Inspections – equipment readiness – functions testing – minor maintenance
    • Training – deliver classroom training within skill set, coordinate online training
    • Coordinate Emergency Response Team preparedness – training levels and coverage
    • Emergency Response within level of training

     

    TRAITS AND SKILLS

    Required

    • Communicate effectively and build relationships with all levels of the organization
    • Perform detailed inspections, collect data accurately and maintain organized recordkeeping.
    • Operate common computer software.
    • Execute multiple responsibilities simultaneously and successfully in a complex environment.
    • Ability to plan and prioritize own work, complete work on schedule and maintain required records.
    • Prepare documentation, presentations, and reports for internal and external stakeholders
    • Ability to achieve and maintain Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) licensure in accordance with PIV program.

     

     

    Preferred

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Safety Sciences or related field
    • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and the fundamentals of safety and industrial hygiene.
    • Knowledge of EPA regulations and compliance requirements.
    • Certification in EHS or related fields
