    A subsidiary of IDEAL, Western Forge produces the highest-quality metal work in the USA and is an American standard in premier hand tool craftsmanship. There is an opening in the Adjustables department for Setup Operator-CNC Lathe on 3rd shift.

    Responsibilities

    This position is primarily responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting and adjusting the CNC machines. Responsibilities include:

     

    • Follow all safety procedures.
    • Operate CNC Swiss machines, CNC mills, and other machines.
    • Measure all part features.
    • Check and/or inspect machining operations and finished product against specified tolerances using precision measuring tools such as caliper, micrometer, height gage, comparator, etc.
    • Read and interpret all blueprints, drawings and operations sheets necessary to performed assigned production operation.
    • Monitor and control quality of production pieces through adjustment of machine and/or tooling.
    • Make mechanical and/or program adjustments to ensure parts are meeting quantity and quality requirements as necessary and must be able to troubleshoot issues and escalate when required.  
    • Maintain all documentation required.
    • Maintain fluid levels in machines that are in use.
    • Conduct daily and operator preventative maintenance on work equipment.
    • Proactively complete setups to maximize up time and to utilize LEAN concepts.
    • Follow all quality procedures and instructions.
    • Maintains housekeeping and 5S in the work area.
    • Responsible for maintaining tooling inventories Other duties as required and assigned by supervisor or management.

    Qualifications

     Qualifications include:

     

    • Must have proven ability to safely operate various manufacturing production machines.
    • Must be able to follow verbal and written multi-step directions for semi-complex machine operations.
    • Understand set-up needs, fixturing, and quick changeover.
    • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Visual acuity and depth perception is required.
    • CNC operation, must have a basic understanding of G code programming and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Minimum 3 years of  CNC setup and/or operation experience is required.
    • Solidworks/Master-Cam/Espirit experience a plus.
    • Lean manufacturing training is strongly preferred.
    • Direct experience with Tsugami, Citizen, Haas, Okuma, or others preferred.
    • Must be able to continuously lift, push and pull up to 35 lbs, for 8-10 hours per day. This capability will either be determined from a physical exam, or verifiable past performance.
    • Continuous standing during a shift (8-10 hours) with frequent reaching, pulling and bending.
    • Hot/cold temperatures based on seasonal variations
    • May be humidity, noise, odors, dust
    • Continuous exposure to mechanical hazards
    • Occasional exposure to chemical hazards
