    The IDEAL family assembly is focused on ensuring that the family can be the best possible partner with the board and management to ensure that the company strategy can be executed. The family strives to be additive to the business by following and sometimes inventing best practice in the field of family business governance. The family strives to be a good partner with the business by developing a deep bench of qualified family leaders and family director candidates, building family engagement and cohesion, and developing the next and youngest generation. The family has recently undertaken 100% participation in a trust reformation project to protect the company from estate taxes in perpetuity. The family is not only committed to remaining family owned, but has developed a process by which difficult decisions can be discussed and executed.

     

    The primary function of the Family Governance Manager is to assist with broadening the knowledge base of the family as it relates to the global organization of IDEAL INDUSTRIES INC., and manage the professional activities that are associated with running a global family business. This role will encompass managing various administrative and logistical components, as well as professional development responsibilities associated with continuous education for the family.

    Responsibilities

    Development and Education Committee Assistance (DEC)

    • Work with DEC chair to identify rolling 12 month priorities
    • Maintain competency spreadsheet
    • Maintain DEC calendar of educational opportunities & identify educational opportunities available within IDEAL and the marketplace
    • Work with DEC chair to set annual schedule for Individual Development Plan (IDP) review
    • Schedule and conduct quarterly calls to update IDPs with individuals and DEC chair
    • Conduct monthly coaching calls
    • Manage family newsletter content
    • Manage Development and Education funding process and review approval of request with DEC
    • Review expense reports to ensure alignment with Development and Education Fund policy
    • Track income and expenses and create monthly/quarterly financial reports
    • Maintain contribution spreadsheet
    • Participate on all DEC committee and IDP calls

    Family Council Assistance

    • Manage Meeting logistics (Hotel, Meals, Child Care, Minutes, Packets, etc.)
    • Create surveys
    • Post meeting minutes, agendas, and supplemental materials to portal
    • Assist with various task force related projects (track accountability, progress, etc.)
    • Attend and help facilitate quarterly family council meetings and monthly conference calls

    Family Assembly Assistance

    • Create family newsletter (solicit content, create newsletter and distribute)
    • Manage Meeting logistics (Hotel, Meals, Child Care, Minutes, Packets, Activities, etc.)
    • Manage family Facebook Account, Family Portal and Family Calendar
    • Attend annual Family Assembly Meetings and quarterly conference calls

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
    • 5+ years’ executive administrative or association management experience preferred
    • Prior meeting and event planning experience required
    • Experience developing and managing internal communications required
    • Experience managing learning and development initiatives preferred
    • Managing budgets and financial reporting required
    • Able to identify problems/evaluate situations and make informed and effective decisions based on information from multiple perspectives
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, working on multiple initiatives that deliver results
    • Analytical and inquisitive personality
    • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
    • Strong interpersonal skills, confident, persuasive
    • 15% travel required
