    A subsidiary of IDEAL, Western Forge produces the highest-quality metal work in the USA and is an American standard in premier hand tool craftsmanship, has an opening for a Forge Operator I in its Forge shop.

     

    This position is primarily responsible the loading of the billets, operation of trim press, roller and induction unit equipment. Duties include starting, stopping to the machine.

    Responsibilities

    • Follow all safety procedures.
    • Operate all basic functions of the trim and roller operations and induction units.
    • Conduct daily operator preventative maintenance on work equipment.
    • Follow all quality procedures and instructions.
    • Where necessary, monitor work visually and dimensionally referring to blueprints and use of “Go/No Go gauges”, engineering specifications, engineering input and job instruction sheets. Maintain quality and rate sheet (takt sheets) as required.
    • Performs ongoing checks on the trim press and roller equipment to verify the parts produced are within specification.
    • Perform start-up and shut down operations as needed to include greasing and oiling equipment.
    • Maintains housekeeping and 5S standards in the work area.
    • Other related duties as directed by management.

    • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    • Must be able to continuously lift, push and pull up to 40 lbs, for 8-10 hours per day. This capability will either be determined from a physical exam, or verifiable past performance.
    • Continuous standing during a shift (8-10 hours) with frequent reaching, pulling and bending.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Continuous exposure to hot temperatures.
    • May be humid, odors, dust
    • Loud noise level and extra hearing protection is required
    • Continuous exposure to mechanical hazards
    • Occasional exposure to chemical hazards
