    The Purchasing Manager is responsible for all buying, procurement, and purchasing activities of raw materials, equipment, purchased parts, machinery and supplies for the organization. The position negotiates supplier contracts to achieve cost reductions, improved payment terms, inventory reduction, and terms and conditions most favorable to the Company. This position is responsible for the oversight, analysis and coordination of materials management. This position reports to the Business Unit Manager.


    • Responsible for coordinating all purchasing related activities for IDEAL Electrical globally.
    • Establish and maintain relations with suppliers and vendors, including correspondence, performance audits and recommendations.
    • Identify and qualify new suppliers, including RFQs.
    • Identify areas of cost reduction opportunities then develop and track actionable plans for achieving targets.
    • Work with suppliers to make sure that new products meet engineering, quality and safety specifications as well as cost goals.
    • Develop and lead the execution of the cost reduction strategies and roadmap plans.
    • Understand and apply LEAN principles to establish and monitor KanBans.
    • Oversee and manage a team of Purchasing Coordinators to ensure POs are being issued and items are expedited through outside processes effectively.      
    • Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and pricing.
    • Review sales demand and examine inventory levels then drive actions to keep minimum levels while maintaining on time delivery.
    • Analyze and present make/buy recommendations to management.
    • Prepare, issue and authorize all purchase orders for inventory items and change notices.
    • Work with suppliers and internal operations to meet production schedules.
    • Reconcile all supplier invoices to purchase orders.
    • Evaluate, prepare and report monthly shipments, PPV performance, inventory turns, and other operational data.
    • Manage and minimize excess/obsolete inventory.
    • Coordinate shipments to keep logistics costs minimal.
    • Coordinate with other departments to identify, resolve and communicate quality issues, material availability and lead times.
    • Review PO claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
    • Maintain awareness of latest materials and procurement concepts.
    • Support ISO as required, including the performance of Internal ISO Audits. Perform other related duties as assigned.
    • Participate as a member of a Project Team and/or Cross Functional Team as required.
    • Prepare policies regarding purchasing systems and procedures.


    • Bachelor Degree Required
    • 5+ years’ leading purchasing/sourcing in a manufacturing environment. 
    • Must possess strong negotiations skills necessary
    • Able to identify and manage projects from concept to implementation and successfully drive project results
    • Requires a working knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing, ERP and Microsoft Office.  (not a requirement)
    • APICS/CPIM and/or NAPM and Negotiations certifications preferred.  (not a requirement)      
    • Must be able to communicate and present to all levels of management.
    • Must have a high attention to detail.
