    SUMMARY

    The Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Supervisor handles all environmental, health and safety related tasks to support the Colorado Springs operations and facilities. These tasks are conducted in accordance with EH&S regulations as specified in federal, state and local laws and guidelines. The EH&S Supervisor is responsible for all Production, Quality and EH&S internal and external audits in each operation and ensures facilitation of program objectives completion by providing clear, continuous direction to staff.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The following includes a list of primary responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned to meet various business requirements.

    1. Compliance & Regulatory Reporting (i.e., Safety, Clean Air Act, Surface Contamination [Ground Water], Waste Water Management, etc.)
      1. Manage environmental processes to ensure proper waste management and minimization practices in accordance with regulatory requirements.
      2. Manage environmental processes throughout the plant site to ensure proper surface and ground water management (i.e. permitting, treatment, etc.).
      3. Manage spill and contingency planning in compliance with regulations.
      4. Manage environmental processes to assure permitted facilities are in compliance with the Clean Air Act and other regulatory requirements.
      5. Respond to all customer related environmental requirements such as RoHS and REACH.
      6. Manage SDS compliance and distribution program.
    2. Creating & Driving a Safety Culture
      1. Conduct safety audits and issue action items by department to improve our work environment.
      2. Document Procedures and Work Instructions for Safety, Heat Treat, Waste Water, Plating, etc.
      3. Lead employees and management safety meetings and awareness.
      4. Promote employee participation in developing a safe work environment through identification and submission of potential safety issues.
      5. Maintain records of all accidents and near miss reports, including loss time and restricted duty logs.
      6. Coordinate all aspects of safety and OSHA training programs including but not limited to Haz-Mat and Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.
    3. Drive Industry Best Practices and associated cost savings
      1. Create and manage budget (including CAPEX) for PPE, waste water treatment, fire suppression, air handling & quality, industrial hygiene, machine guarding, training, hazardous waste treatment and others as required.
      2. Evaluate outsource vs. internal processing to reduce spend

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field along with 7-10 years related experience. Expert knowledge of environmental industry trends and EH&S regulations as specified in federal, state and local laws and guidelines.

     

    Related experience must include implementation of 5S programs, proactive approach to identifying and resolving EH&S process or equipment issues, and support of systematic internal and external change control procedures. Also requires a strong capability to interpret work procedures, governmental laws and regulations.

     

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    • B.S. in Environmental Science or Engineering is required (Chemical/Industrial Engineering preferred)
    • 7 - 10 years of relevant industry experience 

    SKILLS and ABILITIES

    • Ability to read, write, and interpret work process procedures, customer reports, and general business correspondence and technical documentation
    • Possess effective project management skills
    • Possess strong communication skills
    • Possess strong attention to detail, organization and prioritization abilities
