This position is primarily responsible the operation of billet cutting (shear operation) trim press, roller, induction unit and all forge hammers 3,000 lbs and less equipment. Duties include starting, stopping and making adjustments to the machine trim die and induction set-ups. 


  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Operate primary and secondary functions of the trim press, roller operations, induction units and hammer presses 3,000 lbs and less equipment.
  • Conduct daily operator preventative maintenance on work equipment.
  • Follow all quality procedures and instructions.
  • Where necessary, monitor work visually and dimensionally referring to blueprints and use of “Go/No Go gauges”, engineering specifications, engineering input and job instruction sheets. Maintain quality and rate sheet (takt sheets) as required.
  • Performs ongoing checks on the trim press and roller equipment to verify the parts produced are within specification.
  • Perform start-up and shut down operations as needed to include greasing and oiling equipment.
  • Maintains housekeeping and 5S standards in the work area.
  • Other related duties as directed by management.


  • Must have proven ability to safely operate various manufacturing production machines.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written multi-step directions for semi-complex machine operations
  • Ability to multitask and resolve problems quickly.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Visual acuity and depth perception is required.
  • Must be able to pass a competency test 80% or better on Hammers up to 3,000 lb.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 12 months of manufacturing experience is required, 24 months is preferred.
  • Previous Forging experience is preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Be able to continuously lift, push and pull up to 40 lbs, for 8-10 hours per day. This capability will either be determined from a physical exam, or verifiable past performance.
  • Continuous standing during a shift (8-10 hours) with frequent reaching, pulling and bending.


  • Continuous exposure to hot temperatures.
  • May be humid, odors, dust
  • Loud noise level and extra hearing protection is required
  • Continuous exposure to mechanical hazards
  • Occasional exposure to chemical hazards
