A subsidiary of IDEAL, Western Forge produces the highest-quality metal work in the USA and is an American standard in premier hand tool craftsmanship, is seeking an experincesd Production Supervisor.


The Production Supervisor directs and coordinates all plant activities and personnel within their designated areas of responsibility to deliver quality products on time to our customers and at a profit. This must be accomplished in an environment where safety is first and a balanced ‘lean’ attack continually achieves and improves Quality/Housekeeping/Service levels/Productivity. This position must partner with other functional areas, customers and suppliers in order to align plant activities with established business objectives and product/customer requirements.


  • Supervise one or more functional operations’ group(s) (Assembly, Packaging, Adjustable, Pliers, Screwdrivers, Hammer shop, Specialty Tools, Machine shop, or any combination) in coordination with the appropriate team leaders.
  • Responsible for providing a safe and clean working environment.
  • Direct, train, and monitor activity within the group(s), insuring compliance with all appropriate procedures and policies for that functional group.
  • Present ideas and plans for improvements supported by appropriate analysis.
  • Periodically procure items for either production, or department use.
  • Assign and prioritize work to meet production requirements and ensure OTD.
  • Responsible to conduct employee performance appraisals.
  • Responsible for scheduling time off for subordinate personnel.
  • Coordinate activities with other functional groups (EHS, maintenance, shipping, accounting etc.).
  • Responsible for maintaining and improving quality system.
  • Other related duties as directed by management (including filling in as a team leader, or for the plant manager when they are out of the plant)


  • Ability to provide leadership in directing and managing a diverse work group to meet company goals.
  • Must have demonstrated sufficient communications skills (both written and oral) for upward, and downward communications flow.
  • Progressive responsibility within a functional group, or equivalent verifiable related experience.
  • Demonstrated management leadership skills.
  • Ability to drive LEAN and continuous improvement projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years in a LEAN environment or LEAN cortication



  • Includes the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.  
  • Ability to type, stand, walk sit and possess manual dexterity sufficient to reach and handle items.
  • Ability to transverse a multi-building campus.Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Medium physical activity performing daily activities.
