IDEAL Canada is also leading the change in the Canadian electrical industry by developing leading edge wireless lighting control solutions through our Audacy products.


  • Responsible for providing leadership and management of company’s Canadian fiscal function ensuring the company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • The individual must work beyond the tactical responsibilities of the position and focus on strategy, operational analysis, and budget management to align global financial reporting and procedures with company strategic objectives.
  • The individual must communicate with the General Manager frequently, providing accurate interpretations of financial data to identify and recommend ways to improve financial performance.


  • This position is a key member of the leadership team and a strategic partner to the General Manager.
  • Responsible for financial reporting systems and controls to prepare detailed projections and execute financial modeling.
  • Prepare accurate consolidated financial reports to present findings and recommendations to management team and company leaders.
  • Serve as the primary legislative liaison relative to company financial issues to ensure fiduciary compliance with federal, provincial, and local reporting requirements.
  • Manage the company accounting function including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Oversee financial management of global locations including developing financial and forecast reports and policies/procedures.
  • Ensure timely and accurate forecast analysis and financial review for management team.
  • Provide strategic financial leadership and proactive support on the evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions, mergers, and investments and/or other issues affecting the business.
  • Proactively recommend and lead new efforts to improve ROE/ROA performance.
  • Manage, monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget and proactively seek and suggest improvements for continuous improvement.
  • Recommend and develop policies, procedures and systems to meet company objectives.
  • Create, follow and recommend benchmarks for measuring financial and operating performance.
  • Work to optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships; initiate needed strategies for improvement.
  • Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
  • Build, develop and manage finance and IT teams capable of carrying out needed initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance for the finance and information technology functions.


  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Finance/Accounting, or MBA with Finance/Accounting concentration.
  • 8 to 10 years of related experience in Senior-level finance or accounting position within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Technical skills and experience in financial reporting and analysis, cash flow management, mergers and acquisitions.
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, and profitability analysis.
  • Knowledge of financial and information systems development and implementation.
  • Ability and desire to analyze and translate complex financial data and concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers.
  • Ability to think ahead and strategically plan over a 5 and 10 year time span.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret problems and provide resolutions at both a strategic and tactical level.
  • Ability to lead people and teams while achieving results.
  • Work requires professional written / verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management and company leaders.
