The Logistics Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all warehouse activities involving facilities management, order fulfillment, inventory management, employee supervision, workforce safety and continuous improvement of the Distribution Center.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate and prioritize distribution to customers in order to maintain an optimal service level while managing inventory levels at the distribution center.
  • Inventory management planning both for new product introductions and phase outs.
  • Drive continuous improvement throughout the distribution center utilizing LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Oversee any critical supply chain issues, communicate demand-supply status, and manage a Kanban Inventory System.
  • Present ideas and plans for continued improvements supported by appropriate analysis.
  • Develop and report key metrics and regularly review with plant senior staff and Retail Team to ensure corporate commitments are achieved.  Continually review and modify short and long-term plans that maintain and achieve key metrics. Key metrics include but are not limited to: Safety, Housekeeping, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, Fixed capital efficiency (OEE), Lean projects and SLOB management.
  • Responsible for providing a safe and clean working environment for their employees, and report to Corporate quarterly.
  • Provide leadership and training to hourly warehouse employees in order to develop an environment that fosters worker responsibility and empowers employees to fully utilize skills in order to contribute to company goals.
  • Lead facilities management and negotiations with landlord.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in a distribution center environment, with at least 5 of those years supervising employees and 3-5 years distribution experience to/in the Retail Industry, as well as E-Commerce experience.
  • Proven track record of applying LEAN principles to drive distribution efficiencies (i.e. KanBan, visual systems).
  • Ability to coach, motivate, train and delegate responsibility.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including presentation, listening and managing skills as required to work in and manage teams. Solid conflict resolution and problem solving skills a must.
  • Demonstrated management leadership skills.
  • Ability to identify and manage projects from concept to implementation and successfully drive project results.
  • Able to understand, interpret and act on financials/budgets as they relate to the distribution center.
  • Able to make decisions and drive results for the distribution center based on an understanding and interpretation of internal business objectives and customer requirements.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems to include ERP system experience (preferably Microsot NAV & High Jump).
  • Must be a process thinker, capable of providing a detailed focus on process and system
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, capable of establishing a continuous improvement roadmap to drive out waste within a distribution and transportation environment.
  • Sound leadership judgment, capable of establishing credibility with management team and direct reports such to drive a culture of high ethical standards while continually focusing on growth, performance improvement and cost reduction.
  • Must have strong project management skills.
  • Must have proficient communication skills (both written and oral).
